In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

SOME SAYINGS OF OUR BELOVED
PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH) ABOUT GOOD CHARACTER

We only sent you for the whole of mankind,
bringing good news and giving warning. But most of mankind do not know it. (Qur’an34:28)

Allah showed great kindness to the believers when He sent a Messenger to them
from among themselves to recite His Signs to them and purify them and teach them the Book and Wisdom,
even though before that they were clearly misguided. (3:164)

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah,
may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
"I was sent to perfect good character."
(Maliks Muwatta. Book 47. Good Character. Hadith Number 008)



A believer (Muslim) is not a slanderer, a curser, an abuser, nor an impudent man.
(Related by Al-Bukhari)

Be truthful for truth is one of the ways to Paradise. And beware of lying for it is one of the ways to the Fire.
(Related by Al-Khatib according to Abu Bakr)

Do not do when you are alone that which you hate to have people see.
(Related by Ibn Habban according to Usama Ibn Sharik)

...whoever sets right his hidden thoughts, Allah will set right his public standing.
(Related by Al-Hakem according to Ibn Omar)

The best of virtues are: to resume good relations with the one who severed them with you, to give to the one who denied you, and to forgive the one who oppressed you.
(Related by At-Tabarani according to Mu' ath)

The best thing given to a man is a good character, and the worst thing given to him is a mean heart in a beautiful shape.
(Related bu Usama Ibn Shareek)

Resume relations with the one who has severed them with you, treat nicely the one who treated you badly, and tell the truth even if it is not in your favour.
(Related by Ibn and Najjar)

Exchange gifts and you will love one another, shake hands and any rancour that you feel for each other will dissepate.
(Related by Ibn' Assaker)

Flattery and envy are not among the characters of a believer except when seeking knowledge.
(Related by Al-Bayhaqi according to Mu'ath)

Jihad (fighting in the way of Allah) does not mean a man hitting with his sword in the way of Allah, but supporting one’s parents and one’s children, that is Jihad; and supporting one’s self and refraining from asking others for handouts, that is Jihad.

Tenderness is only taken out of the heart of  a wretched man.
(Related by Ibn Habban according to Abu Huraira)

The best charity is to satisfy the hunger of someone starving.
(Related by Al-Bayhaqi according to Anas)

Solitude is better than having a bad companion and a good companion is better than solitude. Enjoining good deeds is better than silence and silence is better than enjoining evil deeds.
(Related by Al-Bayhaqi according Abu Dharr)

Would you not like me to tell you who is the strongest among you? He is the one who controls himself best when angry.
(Related by At-Tabarani according to Anas)

There is no sip that Allah Most High likes better than a sip of anger restrained by a servant (of His). Any servant who restrains it, Allah fills his insides with faiths. (Related by Ibn’ Abbas)

Humbleness only raises the rank of a man, so be humble and Allah Most High will raise your rank. Forgiveness only increases the honour and glory of man, so be forgiving and Allah Most High will bestow on you honour and glory. And charity only increases your wealth, so give in charity and Allah will be merciful to you.
