I just got off the phone with an Australian friend of mine who is studying medical science at the moment. He is around 24 years old. He became a Muslim at the age of about 16 and with his girlfriend (who he married straight after) who was 14 or 15 at the time.

This friend was telling me how he met and witnessed an older man (around 56 years old) ask him and others (one who was a recent convert [revert] from Hinduism) questions about Islam and then accept Islam.

About 40 - 50% of the people I know are reverts and I know a lot of people. So many people are accepting Islam. Now this is a very common thing that happens today and I have seen many people accept Islam and never felt the urge to blog about it. However this is not the reason for this post or the phenomenon that has inclined me to write this post.

The reason is that during this conversation I realised the fact that 90% of people that enter into Islam say that it was the last religion that they looked at or even considered as is the case with my friend and this man that became Muslim on Sunday. My friend was telling me that this man was telling them how it was the last religion that he considered after going through so many other religions, and how he was blown away and surprised what Islam actually is and teaches.

At this point I stopped my friend and said to him, "You know, I wonder why? nearly every new Muslim I have met has said the same thing that this guy said. Islam was the last religion that they looked at or considered. I think God shows them all religions before Islam so that they have all religions to compare with Islam. I guess this makes the truth clearer for them to see." At this point my friend came out with something like "it was the last religion I looked at too. Actually I had muslim friends and the only reason I looked at it and read the quran was because I wanted to prove them and Islam wrong. Even though I was becoming interested in Buhdism as I had read the bible and wasn't satisfied with Christianity."

Anyway, back to this revert. He is an artist and makes a lot of money from it. A lot of the work he does is nude sculptures. And he had very specific question about this kind of work. Obviously this is a no no in Islam. However having studied Islam now and being satisfied with the answers he got and the proof he found he accepted Islam regardless of the fact the he knows that one day he will have to change the focus of his sculptures to other objects or find another proffession. This shows dedication on his behalf.

The one thing about Islam that people should know is there is no such thing as blind faith. You need answers and you need proof so that you can believe, and Islam provides both. There are a lot of people that grow up just accepting Islam as it is the religion of their fathers but don't have any idea about it. This is a sad fact but none the less one we must accept. Especially in this busy day and age, people don't have the time to educate themselves about religion.

Anyway I am looking forward to meeting this guy (hopefully on Thursday as my friend has invited me to lunch with them). It is always interesting to hear the stories of people who accept Islam and why they did it considering it is the most negatively portrayed topic of anything today in this world.

I guess that is the reason more people today are accpeting Islam. Thanks to the wonderful media who always put Islam and Muslims in the spotlight and even though 99% of the time it is negative, it sparks interests and curiosity and helps the growth of Islam.

Religions like Christianity spend billions of dollars evangilising third world countries by bribing starving people with food and water to get them to become christian and still Christianities population is decreasing. Muslims don't preach and the media doesn't help the cause of Islam however it is still the fastest growing religion in the world including the fastest growing religion in the western world.

Look into Islam and if you don't know where to start or would rather ask someone find a Muslim and ask the questions you need answers to. In the end nobody has anything to lose by looking into it. If anything you have so much more to gain or at least you will educate your self and begin to ignore the lies in the media.
